Along with my running Labour colleague, Barbara Graham, it has been my great honour to represent hundreds of residents in recent years.

Barbara and I provide a voice for Tudhoe at county level, helping secure a raft of community enhancements, while overcoming individual problems and removing barriers to progress.

Some of the many improvements we have supported include highway and footpath upgrades at Wood Vue, dropped kerbs for disabled access at St David’s Close, landscaping the Coach & Horses roundabout and CCTV cameras to clamp down on fly-tipping.

I was proud to help with the creation of the skateboard area in Jubilee Park, enhancing this regenerated community asset. The Roald Dahl Parade and Swimathon focused attention on Spennymoor and bringing the Big Bash to the town as part of the BRASS Festival was a coup.

Barbara and I work on the Spennymoor Area Action Partnership, improving and promoting our ward. The AAP has improved the community centre, supported Spennymoor Town Band and Youth and Community Association, as well as Spennymoor Youth Firefighters Association.

Sport is also a great passion, so it’s great to be able to support the development of Tudhoe Cricket Club, Carpet Bowls Club and the incredible South Durham Gymnastics.

County Durham faces some stern challenges in the coming years, but despite the ongoing Government austerity, our communities continue to thrive under Labour.
