Most of my adult life has been dedicated to the town I was raised in and I hope that will continue in a Labour-run authority after the May elections.

I was first elected to represent Stanley as a 23 year-old and have been doing my best for the town ever since, not only as a councillor, but as someone who is absolutely committed to getting unemployed Stanley people back into work.

Through Stanley Events, we have trained over 300 people to help them access employment opportunities that would have otherwise been closed to them.

We have also staged a host of events that have brought over 30,000 people to the town, notably the annual free fireworks event – which we organise for the people of the town but welcome other attendees too – and the music events and family fun days we specialise in.

In the last few years, myself and your Labour County Council has supported Beamish and East Stanley Sports Club, Beamish Football Club, South Moor Golf Club, the Indoor Bowls Club, Stanley Mason’s Arms FC and View Lane Bowls Club – we’re committed to keeping the town active.

I have also been proud to support the regeneration of the Front Street and played a role in securing the new Aldi store for the town, keeping shoppers spending in Stanley.

The Venue has become a valued community resource and I have championed a wealth of community causes, including most recently funding and approval for a new play area near East Stanley School.

I am asking for your vote to allow me to continue providing a voice for Stanley at a county level and for County Durham at a regional level. As Government austerity continues, County Durham continues to get a raw deal, but vote Labour and we’ll protect front line services and demonstrate how #LabourWorks for County Durham.
