It is a proud honour for me to represent Labour and stand for election in Stanley alongside my running mate, Cllr Carl Marshall.

Having worked at Durham City Council, I know how to get things done at a civic level and my focus will be on delivering positive change for Stanley – an area that is seeing something of a renaissance under the current Labour administration – and representing the people of the ward to the best of my ability.

This is quite something, given the cuts that are being imposed on the authority as the Government continues its unfair and relentless austerity purge.

We need cool heads and motivated councillors at this current time, and I genuinely hope the people of Stanley will elect me to continue the good work that is already underway in the town.

The regeneration along the Front Street is just the start and we will be working hard to build on the arrival of Aldi in the town, after planning permission was granted in February.

We are focused on supporting our community, supporting the great work of PACT House and keeping it healthy, via investment in View Lane Bowls Club, to name just a couple of projects.

The next few years are not going to be easy as public money continues to be squeezed, but Labour has made a pledge to the people of the county that as long as we control the council, we will do everything we can to protect front line services and make sure the county’s most vulnerable people are cared for.
