My sole focus for the last decade has been representing the Coxhoe Division to the best of my abilities.
It is a great honour for me to represent some of Durham’s most vibrant villages and to again be seeking re-election in this fantastic ward.
It is so important to me create partnerships between the villages in the Coxhoe division, linking-up parishes and community groups and ensuring County Durham Labour stays in touch with what local people want and need.
My local government experience enables me to provide the powerful and effective voice that County Durham’s villages deserve.
During my time as an elected representative, I have supported community centres and worked alongside many groups, securing much-needed improvement and assistance for those who have needed it most.
It is with great pride that was part of the group that secured the commitment for a new school in Bowburn and new classrooms at Coxhoe, as well as helping to deliver the funding for school 20mph zones; keeping our children safe is a top priority for Labour.
As Cabinet Member for Libraries, Leisure and Lifelong learning, I will carry on fighting against the crippling cuts the government continues to impose. We are being innovative with the way we deal with the impact of the cuts, squeezing every single drop out of every pound we spend.
A vote for Labour will not only make sure the fight for a fair settlement for County Durham continues, it will also see us continue to protect the front line services you value most.
I am committed to working hard to help and support residents of the Coxhoe Division and build upon the excellent work already being done in the area.
I am passionate about improving our beautiful villages, our exceptional county and I will continue to push ambitious regeneration projects to ensure Durham thrives in the face of austerity.
Please back me to continue to provide strong direction and a powerful voice for the proud people of all the communities in the Coxhoe Division.
