Barbara and Joe Armstrong are proud to be Labour Party candidates for Esh and Witton Gilbert Division.

The husband and wife team have worked hard since 2013 to deliver large-scale, high-impact projects in their area, helping local communities and protecting the local environment. Their successful track record includes:

  • £600,000 Defra and DCC funding for Witton Flood Defences
  • Big Lottery Funding for Hamsteels Community Centre
  • Resurfacing of all main roads in Langley Park
  • £100,000 subsidence defences for Esh Bank
  • Funding the refurbishment of the Miners Institute in Langley Park
  • £10,000 to improve schools playing fields in the area

Barbara and Joe work as a cohesive team for the division and share a passionate desire to drive positive change. They also share the same values as councillors, helping them to work as an effective partnership for the communities they represent.

Barbara said: “We want our Division to be the best it can be and regularly walk around the communities in our ward to speak with local residents and businesses to make sure we are aware of all the issues that affect them – and this is something will intend to continue with.”

Joe says: “We get things done and we get them done as quickly as possible – our ability to work in partnership as a team helps us to not only get to know our communities, but to deliver on their priorities. Who better to tell us what works well and what could be better than the people directly impacted! I believe that it takes a positive attitude to achieve positive results.”
